Grand ReOpening of StudentCity.com's Midwest Sales Office

It all went down last Thursday, 9/21/06, in St. Cloud, MN. Hundreds of students from St. Cloud State and other area colleges made their way over to StudentCity.com's new office to meet Paula from The Real World Key West and Landon from The Real World Philly. Two of the girls told us they drove 90 minutes, just to meet them! Students also got free pizza courtesy of Toppers, free Vault Energy Drink, Gold's Gym was giving out free memberships and a chance to spin the StudentCity.com Wheel-O-Prizes. What’s more, the entire event was broadcast live on 104.7 KCLD. All students who attended were entered to win a free Spring Break 2007 trip with us. And the winner is.....drum roll please....Jena Wager from SCSU.


Later that evening, Paula, Landon, the StudentCity.com crew, and what seemed like the entire St. Cloud State campus, hit up the Red Carpet for a great night of partying. You know it is a good night when guys take their shirts off and throw them over the balcony! Maybe the $1.50 drink special had something to do with it too.

StudentCity.com does the Campus Philly Kick-Off!

There's been some talk amongst college students around the States, saying they're disappointed that they don't live in the Boston area to attend College Fest, Michigan to hit up Bronco Bash, or even those of us who wish we came from the good ol' Midwest and Minnesota to attend StudentCity.com's Grand Re-Opening of the MN office…but don't worry, the college parties are still going and this weekend you can check out the LARGEST of the college parties, with 25,000 others at Campus Philly Kick-Off!!!

This year StudentCity.com is one of the proud sponsors, and will have a table set up to answer any questions you may have about Spring Break 2007, PLUS they will be giving away FREE trips, discounts for Spring Break 2007, t-shirts and PAULA from MTV's Real World Key West will be there hanging out, signing autographs, and posing for pictures with you and your friends! Aside from all the cool StudentCity.com giveaways, Campus Philly Kick-Off includes an incredible list of musical talent, including hip-hop legend Fat Joe and Saves the Day on the main stage, and local break-out talents Taragirl and The Mighty Paradocs, TNT Motocross performing "don't-try-this-at-home stunts," the Sk8er Bois of Franklin's Paine tearing it up with a skate jam and a mini-ramp, a free bus loop running to various museums for College Day on the Parkway, and two complete sets of dorm furniture and accessories given away by IKEA!

Bronco Bash, StudentCity.com, and Johnny Bananas!

Bronco Bash, the annual event to welcome students, faculty, staff and community members to another great year at Western Michigan University was a great success again! This year marked its 26th anniversary and it was better than ever! Over 400 student organizations, university departments, community members, local businesses and area restaurants participated in this great opportunity to reach the students at WMU. This year StudentCity.com brought Johnny Bananas from Real World Key West with them. Everyone, both students and faculty alike, loved meeting him, posing with him for pictures and getting autographs. This was just a preview of how StudentCity.com makes it happen on Spring Break year after year!

Guaranteed to not go hungry on Spring Break!

If you're anything like me, food is the first thing you think about when planning a trip…ok maybe not the first, but it has probably crossed your mind when you're planning Spring Break to a foreign country for a week! What if I spend all my money on booze, or the cute girl at the bar? How am I going to eat dinner the next night?! These are very real situations, and although many of you think that meals are unimportant, you're wrong! Take a "Vacation of the Mind" to Spring Break with Damian the Hypnotist

For anyone who has ever seen an R-rated hypnosis show, you know what I’m talking about when I say it is a MUST SEE! Last year when I was on Spring Break in Acapulco, Damian the Hypnotist had an amazing show that left everyone laughing until we were blue in the face! He hypnotized members of the audience, a bunch of drunken Spring Breakers, and had them do the most ridiculous things! Ok, drunken college students can come up with some pretty interesting things to do on their own, but throw a hypnotist into the act and things are sure to get craaaaaaaazy! These Spring Breakers did everything from act like monkeys eating the bugs from people’s hair, to perform a live concert as Brittney Spears and some no-name Chinese Rap star! I’m pretty sure this kid doesn’t even speak Chinese!!!

So you missed the show in Acapulco and now you’re all…man, I should have gone so I could have seen Damian and his outrageous show!... Well, you’re in luck - StudentCity.com has teamed up with Damian once again, and this time added Chase +1 and Contiki Holidays with vacations to Europe, to provide a show that is “the most fun you can have with your clothes on!” If you are looking to escape the cold-weather blues that are just around the corner, check out the Vacation of the Mind Tour 2006! StudentCity and MTV Reality Stars team up to make College Fest a success!

For those of you who made it out to College Fest, you probably walked away with tons of free stuff, and possibly a free trip or discount for Spring Break 2007 with StudentCity.com! StudentCity had a booth with a “wheel of fortune” style wheel for students trying to win big for Spring Break, but that’s not ALL they had! Kina and Paula from MTV’s Road Rule’s XTreme and Real World were hanging out all day Saturday. I got there in the afternoon, only to find a line of people waiting to get autographs and spin the wheel for prizes! The “Big Red Machine” was working hard, with lots of StudentCity staff to answer all of our questions, and get everyone pumped up to travel on Spring Break this year!

The highlight of my day was not the free smoothie samples from the Dunkin’ Donuts truck, it wasn’t getting the MTV reality stars’ autographs, or even seeing Damian Marley perform, but rather witnessing the “RockStar-Pong” competition! Surrounded by tons of adoring fans, our celebs got up on stage to prove they know how it is done…but unfortunately lost! (Good thing they’re cute, or we may have been disappointed!) The crowd was totally into it and went crazy when the girls started tossing free shirts into the crowd.

By the end of the day, I was beat from all the free giveaways, entertainment, and excitement. Hangin’ out with Paula and Kina rocked, and College Fest was definitely a success, even if I didn’t win a free trip to Mexico for Spring Break!

Just after StudentCity.com let out word that they're going to throw a "Spring Break Preunion Bash", complete with celebrity appearances, on the campus with the MOST StudentCity Spring Break reservations booked by September 30th, 2006, Spring Break trips started flying off the shelf like candy at fat camp! Escape COLD, SNOWY Michigan for Spring Break

If you go to school in Michigan you know that your Spring Break usually comes a little earlier than most schools, so why not get a group together and plan to go to one of the most popular destinations with everyone else? It looks like this year’s hottest spots will be Cancun, the Bahamas Party Cruise, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco!!!

StudentCity goes to College Fest

No plans this weekend??? Why sit at home bored when you could hang out with other college students in the Boston area and meet and greet celebs at this year’s College Fest. Spring Break with Mazatlan’s Face-lift

Mazatlán has been known for being an inexpensive destination with crazy parties, a wild booze cruise to Stone Island, and good nightlife - but this year, the clubs have stepped up and are going to be out-of-control! Fiesta Land, home to Bora Bora, and Sumbawa recently underwent a multi-million dollar face-lift. As the premier party spot in Maz, this Spring Break will be huge. With capacities of close to 2,000 people, the open-air complex has been renovated to include Nikki-Beach style lounge beds in Sumbawa, and elevated V.I.P. tiki-huts in Bora Bora that overlook theclub. Valentino is still being completed, but the dance floor is sure to be hotter than ever. Along with the construction work came a little change in the music scene. Hip-hop and dance have taken over the party zone. On our last trip to Maz, the DJs at Fiesta Land were sweet enough to download songs for us so we could introduce house music to the crowd. And as always - there will be tons of free drinks!

StudentCity really does appear at the VMAs

What a great night! Not only did we run into some celebs (Snoop, 50, Method Man, and some Real Worlders) that have been with StudentCity on Spring Break before, but we also met and talked with a ton of other celebs about coming down for Spring Break 2007. And if that wasn't cool enough, our cellphones starting blowing up every time we were spotted in the audience! That's us, black shirt and gray shirt, in the crowd when All American Rejects, who appeared at all of our parties last year for MTV's Undercoverin Acapulco, won Best Rock Video. Don't worry, we said hi to Paris, who was sitting right next to us, from everyone at StudentCity!

Punta Cana: more than just a Spring Break destination, now a new found battlefield!

When you think of Punta Cana, many think of a beautiful strip of beach perfect for rest and relaxation, or of a pristine destination to take your significant other on a honeymoon made in heaven, but it is also a rapidly growing Spring Break hotspot for college students nationwide! Eleven members of the StudentCity sales team journeyed down to the Dominican this past weekend to “familiarize” themselves with the destination.

However, it was not all smiles and frozen drinks with little umbrellas for this group! Chauncey and Theresa, two team members who have not seen eye to eye for quite some time, decided to duke it out in the resort’s casino! After Chauncey crapped out on the crap table, Theresa chucked her Malibu and Diet (with a twist of lime) at him because she had a large bet on the table, and then proceeded in telling him how she really felt… “You stupid wanker, f*%& you Chauncey!” (Theresa is obviously from the UK.)

While the others watched hysterically at the two bantering back and forth, there was one gentleman, Hector, who did not find comedy in having Malibu all over his authentic Daddy Yankee concert tee! He got up screaming obscenities in Spanish at Theresa and grabbed a deck of cards from the blackjack dealer, flung it at her, connecting solid with her face! Next, he took the waitress’ tray, full of drinks, walked over to the poor shell shocked, young little Theresa, and dumped the drinks over her head. StudentCity’s team members chanted his name in praise as he was quickly escorted out of the casino by security.

It gets better; Chauncey had been “hipping and hooraying” with Hector all night after each good win they had. The casino manager thought they were together and awarded him with all of Hectors winnings, a little over 1000 pesos. Chauncey felt bad that he had come up in the world while Theresa was standing there covered in aces and Red Bull vodka. He apologized to her and handed her half of Hector's money. The two went over to a table, both bet it all on black, and lost! They did manage to settle their differences and remained friends for the remainder of the trip. Word in “StudentCity-land” is that they brought Sexy Back to Punta Cana that night!!!
