7. Getting Dehydrated : It's possible that the party environment will get you in the groove and so much so that you'll forget that it's warm on your Cancun Spring Break and that beer that you've been sipping on the beach or while sitting in that hot tub will dehydrate you.
How does that happen? Well, hot tubs will increase body temperature which in turn will result in dehydration, light-headedness, weakness and nausea, according to the Smart Risk Web site. To avoid these symptoms, keep hydrated by not soaking in hot tubs with beer for hours at a time on your spring break trip and not drinking too much in the hot sun which as we know will cause you to get dizzy. Chill out literally.
6. Getting injured : Broken limbs, skull fractures, concussions are common stories that one hears about other during spring break .So, what's the deal here. you're at the beach and you're supposedly having a good time. so, why do you have to prove that you're THE surfer dude of all time by riding that huge wave doesn't quite make sense. Ditto for trying to show the girls that you're the kind when it comes to skiing or snowboarding.
Some sober statistics. More than 100,000 people get into some injury or the other and we're not talking about the band-aid type here. But, the problem is acute. People do get injured during their vacation by doing stupid things. So, take it easy and pace yourself. You are, after all, on vacation.
5. Burst your eardrums : It's spring break and in all probability, you're going to be hanging out at a beach and doing stuff in the water. In which case, we'd recommend that you take it a bit easy. Don't just look for the highest diving point and jump into the water directly - the result will be a ruptured eardrum and you will experience a sharp pain along with ringing in your ear. you'll get internal bleeding, dizziness and partial hearing loss. this is what's specified in the University of Iowa health website.
4. Getting Sunburned : You have to be careful here. There's a reason why sunburn can be so harmful and fatal in some cases. Use common sense here - sure, you want that tan on you that you can show off to all your friends and get the thumbs up on how awesome you look. But, don't take it to ridiculous levels by get sunburned beyond recognition and looking like a well-done pancake. Use sunscreen and use at least SPF 35 - the higher the better. Do not assume that because the sky appears overcast or it slightly cool that the sun wont affect you.
Sunburn turns the skin red two to six hours after sun exposure, and the peak effects of the burn are usually 12 to 24 hours after exposure, according to eMedicineHealth.com. and, another thing is that you could have permanent damage from a bad bad sunburn. That fact itself should be enough to pour on the sunscreen and make sure that you have a sunny spring break and not a sunburned spring break.
3. Staying Up all Night : Ok, so we know that a spring break vacation is supposed to be a spring break party that never stops, but if you stay up all night, you will be doing some serious damage to your immune system. Sleep deprivation weakens your immune system and so you might even catch somehting at that exotic location that you;'re spending your spring break at. Relax, take it easy. You dont need to stay up all night and then appear like a zombie next day on the beach. the last thing people want is a zombiefied version of you on the beach.
2. Alcohol Poisoning : Don't binge drink like a moron. Sure, your peers will egg you on and for some unknown reason, it is assumed that the more alcohol you consume the greater is your coolness factor. We don't buy it. Social drinking is supposed to be fun and not idiotic to the point where you drink so much that you vomit and fall ill and have a splitting headache and to get to the point, have a fatal emergency like getting alcohol poisoning. This is a medical emergency and kills far too many young people each year. If you're drinking, drink moderately and stay with your group. Try to have at least one designated driver or chaperon for the night and switch that role with someone else in your group the next night. but, be responsible.
Excessive alcohol use, defined as binge drinking or drinking excessively, is the third leading lifestyle-related cause of death each year in the United States, according to the CDC Web site.
1. Returning with an STD : If you have to engage in sexual activity, make sure that you use condoms. There's no exception to this rule. else you could be returning home with more than just a spring break experience and have an STD in tow. Or have an unplanned pregnancy. Be repectful of your body and where it's going. Even if your boyfriend or girlfriend will never know, sleeping with someone when first meeting is a bad idea. Think about this for a second : If someone you don't even know will have sex with you on your first meeting, don't you suppose they've done this with other people? If you are going to engage in risky behavior, use condoms.
The only way to completely avoid transmission of STDs is to abstain from sex. However, when used correctly, male latex condoms are effective in reducing the risk of transmission, according to the CDC Web site.

offers.
Of course, my friends are hounding me to talk to my boss about getting some discounts for all of us, and they are picking destinations to ask for, but I told them if we do get a deal then we take what we can. However, the 4 places they are hoping to go are:
1. Acapulco, Mexico: A few friends I plan to go with have already been to Acapulco and actually booked with Student City and each one of them would easily go back for a second time. Some of the party packages that Student City offers, are definitely some to look into.
2. Cancun, Mexico: Obviously this is a choice, because who doesn’t think of Cancun when they think of Spring Break. Student City, again has great party packages and Cancun is always a good time.
3. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Then there are a few friends who feel like going off to Punta Cana where you can still have a crazy spring break and Student City will assure you of that, but with time to rejuvenate during the day on the beach.
4. Panama City, Florida: Spring Break in Florida…Why not? We are all 21+ and Panama is a crazy party city during Spring Break and once again Student City can get you the best deals around.
We do have our options and for cheap!!! But if I could get it for free, that would be pretty sick right? Well for me! And don’t be that jealous because you can go for free too just check out Student City. These are just 4 of the many destinations that Student City offer for very unforgettable Spring Breaks, so check them out and let me know which one you’d go for.

Spring Break Destinations...Where would you go?
My last year of college and I think I might finally go on a Spring Break, but there is one question…Where do I want to go? So, this year I might have some more options considering I work for Student City. In all seriousness though I’ve only worked there for about 6 weeks, so I can’t really expect much at all, but regardless whether or not I can get hooked up as an employee I can still get hooked up with all the great deals Student Cityoffers.
Of course, my friends are hounding me to talk to my boss about getting some discounts for all of us, and they are picking destinations to ask for, but I told them if we do get a deal then we take what we can. However, the 4 places they are hoping to go are:

It's not to hard to understand why there's such an anticipation for spring break. Is it just because of its no-holds barred atmosphere or just its uninhibited frenzy that leads to thousands of college students to land up at Cancun, Acapulco etc. etc.?
Working at StudentCity allows me an insight into this exciting world, hence the idea to post a blog. Now, here comes my shameless product plug...Well, OK! But honestly, without making a big noise about it, StudentCity does have tons of spring break packages and deals for all these different exciting places in the US and internationally.
By international, I mean all the different destinations like Cancun, Acapulco, Florida, Cabo, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, South Padre Island and more. So, anyone wanting to book a trip has his/her hands full.
Choices abound...Let me list a few :
1. Where do I want to go?
2. How long should I stay there?
3. Which travel provider should I choose?
4. what packages are right for me?
5. Whom am I traveling with?
That's just the start. Let's get some answers, shall we?
1. Cancun's the most visited spot for Spring Break. Almost every kid you come across will want to talk about his Cancun spring break experience. During those few days in March the town transforms itself into party central. There are landmark hotels like the Oasis (StudentCity actually has it's HQ over there) coupled with clubs like 'Home to the 'City that party on all night.
So, if you'd ask me, I'd go with Cancun simply because the odds of meeting folks from your school or state are much higher. Of course, if you want a more relaxed spring break there's always Jamaica.
2. That's totally up to you. Packages are available to cover most length-of-time requirements. Or, it would make sense if you checked up with your travel provider to see what they have to offer.
3. The answer to this one is simple. You need to choose the most reliable travel provider and not any fly-by-night operator. do some basic homework. check out the provider's website - ask them questions like how long have they been in the business, how strong is their relationship with the various entertainment providers like the clubs, beach party organizers, event organizers, hotels etc. Dig deep - you're the customer and you have the right to know about the business to whom you're giving your money to.
4. Once again the spring break package that you select is dependent on where you want to go, the other students you're traveling with, how long you plan to spend there and what thrills and frills you want with your deal. There are tons of spring break deals out there and after understanding what you want, make a top three list (Hmm... I seem to like lists) and select the best one.
5. This one is easy. Use your MySpace and Facebook to locate folks who are traveling. StudentCity has a community site which lists the students who are traveling for the upcoming Spring Break 2008 where you can see who's traveling and connect with them.
And, of course, the bigger your group, the better will be your discounts. I'll write some more in days to come about how you can travel for free - it's as simple as getting a group of kids to go on spring break and you jump on for free, after that.
To be continued...
